Here is my weekly plan and progress for the documentary project
Week 1
First week of school we got introduced on this year's syllabus
Week 2
This week we did research on multiple documentary openings and analysed its media elements such as its mis-en-scene, edit, camera and sound. As well before the start of the lesson, Mr Nick tasked us to watch a video on how to create tension by cinematography. Basically it includes 3 key elements when trying to increase suspense which are, stakes, time and uncertainty. This will help me with my documentary opening project as it gives me good knowledge on how to increase tension especially when its a crime genre, I could make it more interesing and intriguing with suspense.
To do list
- Finish research by next week ( 3 more )
- Get an idea for the opening documentary.
Week 3
This week we started on our statement of intent. Me and my team decided to choose a kidnapping murder genre documentary. I am very excited to start recording for the documentary as we have many ideas that we want to accomplish. Though we havent completed it, we still need to add more detail to the topic . As well since we need to follow the timeline to stay structured and well organised, we need to do location scout before the next lesson.
To do list
- Finish statement of intent
- Location scout
- Ask people who would want to be in our documentary
Week 4
This week we created new blog posts for our storyboard, script and location scout. Eventhough my teacher wasn't here me and my team continued on. Though we haven't completed our storyboard, me and my team will have to start the recording soon as we would need multiple tries to get the right shot, not even including waiting for the right time where the actors are available. Therefore to make things quicker, we divided ourselves to do different tasks.

- Finish the script
- Start on the storyboard

-Finalize editing
Self reflection: Having a weekly diary helped me realise the things that I need to do. Aside from that it helped me recap the things I did for the week such as useful theories or techincal elements learned in class. Problems I had doing this is that I always forget to fill it out by the end of the week, I was loaded with tasks from other subject which made me put aside this blog to focus on doing tasks that are near the deadline. Though I quickly fixed this by doing it by the week after while in class. A skill I learned from doing this is by doing active recall it made me remmember things better, as I added more weeks the more I would remember .
